Reno's Arc
We ended up eating some Corn-beef and Cabbage at the Cal-Neva casino. It was good, but it doesn't compare to homemade. I was glad that I eat fast because it got cold fast because the resturant was cold. However it was nice like that, the only down side is that the food got cold relitivly fast. After we finished eatting we walked around a little bit and thats where I took a picture or the Reno Arc you see in the above picure. We killed a little bit of time and then headed over to the theatre. We went to go see Aida at the Pioneer Center for a late birth day present. Aida is a story about a tragic romance. A classic "Romeo & Juliet" story. It is set in Egypt during a time of war between the Egyptians and the Nubians; sound familiar? WARNING SPOILER Anyways the Nubian princess, Aida, gets captured by the Egyption captain, Radames, while she is sailing on the Nile. The Egyptians take her to the Egyptian palace and make her a handmaid for the Egyptian princess, Amneris. During Aida's service as a handmaid she becomes close to Amneris, and develops a love for Radames who is betrothed to Amneris. Eventually the Nubian king, Amonasro, gets captured and is put in prison awaiting exicution. Aida and Radameses love for each other and they are both sentenced to be buried alive together, but before they are sealed in the tomb forever the vow to find each other in another life and continue to love each other for all eternity. If you get the chance then you should check this out, however, It's nothing to bend-over backwards to get to either.
The program for Aida
The theatre has an intersting set up, it is set up with will call on-top and the stage and seats are underground. All the seats are good seats, however, the ones that people preffer are more exspensive so we just got some seats that where reasonably priced. When we got into the theatre, there were no flash pictures of the show alowed so I didn't take any picutres of the performance. I was able to get a picutre of the stage when the curtain was down however. The piece they used was a triangle and a winged-flying scarab with talons in the middle.
Curtain Piece.
After the show I had to get back to the base to lower the flag and then I can call it a night. Tommorow I have another watch and then church and work. Then it's back to the normal week.
